Pickup (Primary)
Our primary and preferred fulfillment method is customer pickup. We are a small-batch operation based in Glen Allen, Virginia. Pickup is available on Fridays during a designated time window.
At checkout, you will select a pickup slot from the available Friday time windows. The exact pickup address and your chosen window will be included in your order confirmation email.
Pickup is free. No minimum order required for pickup.
Local Delivery
Local delivery is available for orders of $25 or more, for addresses within 10 miles of Glen Allen, VA. You can select delivery at checkout if your order meets the minimum and your address is within our delivery zone.
Delivery is on Fridays, during a scheduled delivery window. Your delivery window will be included in your order confirmation email.
If your delivery address is outside our 10-mile zone, the delivery option will not appear at checkout. Please select pickup in that case, or contact us at hello@freshandfermented.com and we will try to help.
Why We Don't Ship by Mail
Fresh and Fermented batter is a fresh, living, perishable product. Our dosa and idli batters are naturally fermented and contain no preservatives. They require refrigeration and have a short shelf life — typically 5–7 days from the date of pickup.
Shipping perishable fermented goods through standard mail carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS) involves transit times that would compromise product quality and food safety. For this reason, we do not offer shipping by mail to any location.
All fulfillment is through in-person pickup at our Glen Allen, VA location or local delivery within 10 miles. This is the only way we can guarantee you receive the freshest possible product.
Missed Pickup
If you are unable to pick up during your selected window, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@freshandfermented.com. We will do our best to accommodate you.
However, because our batter is fresh and has a limited window before it over-ferments, we cannot guarantee product availability after the scheduled pickup window has closed.
We do not offer refunds for missed pickups without prior notice. If you contact us before your window closes, we will always try to find a solution.
